Client Spotlight Series: Aptify Welcomes Air Line Pilots Association, International

Representing more than 52,000 pilots at 31 U.S. and Canadian airlines, the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) is the largest airline pilot union in the world. ALPA is affiliated with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), and is known internationally as US-ALPA. It is also a member of the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA). Since its founding in 1931, ALPA has been committed to advancing the piloting profession and ensuring the safety of airline travel and air cargo operations.

alpa-logo-blue-3d.pngALPA provides three critical services to its members:

  • Safety, Security, and Pilot Assistance: ALPA promotes and champions all aspects of aviation safety, security, and pilot assistance throughout all segments of the aviation community. Over 400 airline pilots volunteer to serve on the local and national committees that help guide ALPA in making airline travel the safest mode of transportation in human history.
  • Representation: As the bargaining representative for commercial pilots employed at 31 carriers, ALPA negotiates and administers agreements that establish wages, benefits and working conditions for represented pilots at those carriers.
  • Advocacy: ALPA’s staff and pilot volunteers consistently represent pilots’ views to all airline industry decision-makers, including Congress, Parliament, the White House, and federal agencies.

ALPA’s mission is to promote and champion all aspects of aviation safety throughout all segments of the aviation community; to represent, in both specific and general respects, the collective interests of all pilots in commercial aviation; to assist in collective bargaining activities on behalf of all pilots represented by the Association; to promote the health and welfare of the members of the Association before all governmental agencies; to be a strong, forceful advocate of the airline piloting profession, through all forms of media, and with the public at large; and to be the ultimate guardian and defender of the rights and privileges of the professional pilots who are members of the Association.
